Affiliate Marketing Basics

Hi, I'm Carol your host for this site. I'm a working wife and mother living in Sydney, Australia.
I have been fortunate enough to live in a few different countries and have moved home more times than I care to remember. My working life has been incredibly interesting, diverse and fun. Soon after graduating in pharmacy a great deal of luck landed me software development which has remained my primary focus for the last couple of decades.
An impulsive idea to produce customised sewing patterns online led to the study of pattern making/fashion design which was both hilarious and difficult because of my lack of talent for the task, but it proved beyond doubt that a positive attitude, perseverance and persistence can overcome any obstacles.
Success in software development revolves around simplifying a concept or process so that using a program to do a task is easier than doing it manually. To be able to improve something you need to know exactly how it presently works so there is a lot of research involved. It is a long slow process, certainly no instant gratification but plenty of long term rewards which is very similar to online affiliate marketing.
I have the advantage of years of experience in areas where research plays a major role. It therefore comes as no surprise that what I enjoy most and do best is searching for new ideas and evaluating information. That's how I first came across affiliate marketing. It started out as an experiment to see whether it was possible to teach someone with no marketing skills and limited computer literacy how to market online.
With hundreds of hours of research behind me I am convinced that there is nothing in the process that cannot be learnt and as with most things in life your results will reflect your effort. The bottom line is you must really want to do it! Don't get caught up in the hype of how much you're likely to earn - you'll notice that sites making such claims always include an earnings disclaimer.
I make no claims to affiliate marketing "guru" status or to having made millions from it. I am just one of those ordinary people who has spent an extra ordinary amount of time researching, learning and preparing this site. It has been a wonderful, thoroughly enjoyable experience from which there is now no turning back. I am hooked, passionate and totally addicted!
